Wow, I look pretty contemplative up there, don’t I. Well, it’s because I’m deep in thought about one of the most glorious musical developments of the late twentieth century, the Wurlitzer electric piano.
Wurlitzer manufactured their electric pianos from 1954 until the late sixties (I think I say seventies in the podcast, but I’m wrong). They were electromechanical instruments with built-in amplifiers and speakers, and came in a variety of, um, varieties, including the tube-driven 100-series and the solid state 200’s. Ray Charles had one. So did Supertramp, Booker T, Sun Ra, Little Feat, Roger Manning, Mitchell Froom, Joe Sample…and now half of Creotia. So sit back and enjoy the soothing sounds of electro-pianism with Wurlitzer Creot.

Dean Drouillard - “Never”

Straight outta Toronto and sporting a dashing near-beard, Dean Drouillard uses his Wurli in this tune the way Ray used it: as a rhythmic instrument. His new record, “Dream at Harmony Motel,” is smoother than a motor oil martini, and your ongoing non-ownership of it is an embarrassment. You need to rectify this immediately.
Mega Snore Roses - “Sweet Nickles”

The Mega Snore Roses consists of two identical twin bicyclists and a weird face dude. Their doppelganger referenced in the link is the hip hop powerhouse, Tiger Vomitt, whose CD “Mayonnaise Factory” is so awesome it will make you barf. This tune is as delighfully unstructured as Don Johnson’s blazer.
Emesis Basin Paulson - “Wurlitzer Story” and “Children Watch Out For The Keiko”

Portland’s Emesis Basin Paulson consists of Andy Paulson, his brother-in-law Mike, and whomever happens to be drunk with them in the garage.
